Families explored Sports Science & Safety by trying out our "Goofy Goggles," creating balancing acrobats, and learning about protecting our brain. The Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania gave away lots of free bicycle helmets!

Teachers from Year One, Year Two, Year Three, and administrators gathered one final time at the museum to be reflective practitioners. After some fun hands-on exploration of bubble solution, participants gathered in their school-based groups to plan turn-around training sessions for their learning communities. These teams are ready to spread the good word about preschool science!

We helped the Three Little Pigs construct their houses during this design-themed evening. Preschoolers built with straws, sticks, and bricks, then PNC volunteers served as the Big Bad Wolf, using the Huffing-and-Puffing Machine to test the strength of their designs.

Teachers from years one, two, three, and administrators gathered at the museum for some important science thinking, sharing, planning...and sandwiches! We discussed creating helpful captions for photos of classroom investigations, best practices in introducing new materials to students, and made "New Year's Science Learning Resolutions."

We explored "mystery boxes" and played with bubbles, all in an effort to better understand first principles in early childhood science learning...and how to support teachers, students, and families as they investigate the world around them.

We met the Healthy Heart Challenge by finding our pulses and listening to our hearts, then exercising to make a faster pulse and quicker heartbeat! Families also enjoyed exploring the museum's Giant Heart exhibit and a special science giveaway from friendly PNC volunteers.

Families explored the science of color by reading a favorite book, Mouse Paint, then singing and dancing about favorite colors! Afterward, everyone mixed up their own "mouse paint" to take home.

As part of the first-ever Philadelphia Science Festival, families from all over Philadelphia joined us on Benjamin Franklin Parkway for a day of science celebration! The Franklin Institute offered a new and fun way to mix colors, based on the popular children's book Mouse Paint. Friends from the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Please Touch Museum, and the Philadelphia Zoo joined us in the special PNC Grow Up Great preschool science area for lots of hands-on exploration.

In celebration of the special exhibit Leonardo da Vinci's Workshop, families learned how inventors like Leonardo use their imaginations to solve problems and build new things. Next, we made our own gliders to take home—just like Leo's famous glider!

Happy Birthday, Ben! In honor of our namesake's birthday, families watched the museum's award-winning multi-media presentation on Ben Franklin in Memorial Hall. Then we listened to a story about Ben, sang "Happy Birthday"...and had some hands-on fun with Ben's inventions!
