June 2007The mysterious Red Planet, Mars, has
inspired countless science fiction movies, but now you can experience the
reality of the Mars surface as seen through the eyes of two intrepid explorers—Spirit
and Opportunity, twin robot geologists built and operated by the NASA Jet
Propulsion Laboratory as part of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program. Planned
as a 90 day mission, it began in January 2004 and lasted nearly two Earth
years. The huge IMAX screen shows us the enormity of the spectacular and
rugged Martian landscape. Roving Mars was produced by Academy Award®-nominated
filmmaker Frank Marshall (Seabiscuit and Raiders of the Lost Ark), and produced
and directed by George Butler, with original score by Phillip Glass. Sponsored by The Inquirer |

December 31Dive beneath the surface to discover a world that few
of us will ever experience in person. Through the magic of IMAX, your students
will swim with some of the planet’s most exotic creates, from the
bizarre Rainbow Nudibranch to the giant Pacific octopus. Witness their humorous,
threatening and sometimes peculiar behavior as they depend on one another
for survival and to maintain a balanced ecosystem. Narrated by Johnny Depp
and Kate Winslet with an original score by Danny Elfman. A comprehensive Educator’s Guide for grades 3–9 is available FREE. Curriculum tie-ins include oceanography, language arts, science, math and more. |

June 2007Wired to Win presents a new portrait of the brain—an
organ built to learn, changing its cell structure with each thought and
experience. It continually adapts itself to our needs and gives us the ability
to determine in large part who we are and who we become. Wired to Win applies
this view of the brain to the grueling 21 day Tour de France, following
the world’s top professional cyclists through the Alps to experience
the fight-or-flight situations on a steep downhill switchback, witness their
struggle to maintain mental focus on roads melting in a heat wave, and learn
from their constant battle with fatigue. You will see how a small organ
with no moving parts and the consistency of gelatin is central to all we
accomplish. Note: Wired to Win is part of The Giant Heart Experience. It will be available to classes not reserving that package as space permits. |

6–December 31 Part scientific expedition, part fantastic voyage,
this amazing non-fiction film delves deep into the largely unknown waters
surrounding the volcanic archipelago, an area visited by Charles Darwin
in 1835. Located more than 600 miles west of the coast of Ecuador, the 19
islands of the Galápagos and the waters surrounding them provide
an unparalleled living natural science laboratory where scientists can focus
on biodiversity and evolution, and see how species have adapted in order
to survive. Presented by Cephalon |
