Scholarship Application Process

You MUST read, print, and submit this page with your packet. Application deadline is a firm May 18, 2006.
You should take the following steps in completing the application process:
- Read the introductory letter, which includes descriptions of each type of award available.
- Evaluate your child's strengths in each award area, that you may decide which award best suits your situation.
- Choose which type of application you would like to complete. You may only submit one type of application for each child. Applicants submitting more than one application will not be considered for any of the awards.
- Print the entire application which will include an introduction letter and an adult evaluation form (of which you will need two (2) copies).
- Complete the application making sure that your child completes the essays in their own writing/drawing and signs each essay page (when applicable).
- Required school records may be photocopies. These will not be returned after the selection process.
- Financial documents should be photocopies which are clearly labeled so that each document correlates with a line item on your application.
- Have two adult evaluation forms completed by adults with whom your child has had interaction while participating in some type of structured activity.
- If you are applying for a Walters Award and would like to be considered for the Seigler Award in the event that your child is not selected to receive the Walters Award, please include your child's report cards for the current and previous school years.
- Please, use the checklist in your application packet to ensure that you have completed all necessary information and included all required documents with your application. You should keep a copy of the checklist for your records.
Other information:
- The application deadline is a firm May 18, 2007. You should mail all parts of the application to us, in one (1) envelope, by this date.
- If there is some reason why any part of your application will be sent by another party, you should contact us via email (discovery.camp@fi.edu) in advance to inform us of who will be sending the information, what we should expect, and when.
- We will accept deliveries in person April 10th through 17th ONLY. Should you decide to deliver your application in person, you should make sure that all parts are in one envelope and labeled "Discovery Camp: Scholarships." You should deliver your application packet to the Business Entrance on 20th Street, where there will be a drop box for them at the guard's desk.
- All applicants will be informed of the decision of the selection committee by late May. ALL DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
I have read and fully understand the steps necessary for submission of applications to the Discovery Camp scholarship program. I am aware that I may only submit one application per child and that no late or incomplete applications will be considered. I understand that all decisions are final.
