Ten Weeks of Action-Packed, Hands-On Science FUN!

Ten Weeks of action-packed, Hands-on & Minds-on Science FUN!!!

The goal of Discovery Camp at The Franklin Institute is to excite children about science and nurture their spirit of inquiry. We challenge each camper to take a closer look at the world and see that science is a part of everything. No matter where science fits into their future plans, the scientific discoveries that campers make at Discovery Camp will enrich their lives forever.

Sign on now for Discovery Camp's unique adventures in science. During each two-week session, your child will experience cool science...

  • Investigating science “Mythconceptions”
  • How earth systems (including us!) affect each other
  • What pirates knew about science and technology
  • Cool science from your kitchen
  • Why physics can be all play

Plus, campers will explore fascinating exhibits such as The Giant Heart: A Healthy Interactive Experience, Sports Challenge, and Space Command, with their counselors as well as have the opportunity to experience larger-than-life IMAX films and become immersed in out-of-this-world Fels Planetarium shows!

Applications for spring and summer Discovery Camp counselor positions are posted in the Employment Opportunities section of the website. Please review the Volunteer Opportunities offered during Summer Discovery Camp.

Camp Structure
Discovery Camp begins and ends with a week of Discovery Days, five action-packed days with various themes. In between are four two-week sessions, for campers to enjoy as many as ten fun-filled weeks of camp!

Each session is independent of the others, so campers do not need to attend sessions consecutively. This provides flexibility for working around your family vacation schedule.

Camp hours are 9AM to 4PM, with an optional early arrival beginning at 8AM and late departure until 5:30PM (for an additional fee).

Take a look at Discovery Camp Highlights for a preview of the fun activities campers will participate in throughout the summer!
