The Franklin Institute Awards Ceremony and Dinner is one of the nation’s most historic and prestigious awards galas. For nearly two centuries, this program has singled out the most talented scientists and engineers, inventors and innovators from across the globe and brought them to Philadelphia to be recognized for their incredible genius. Past Laureates have included Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Pierre and Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Jacques Cousteau, Stephen Hawking and Jane Goodall.
Nine Benjamin Franklin Laureates will receive gold medals for their pioneering achievements in the fields of Chemistry, Computer and Cognitive Science, Earth and Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering, Life Science, and Physics.
In addition to the Benjamin Franklin Medal winners, two Bower Laureates for both Business and Science Achievement will receive distinctive medals for their work. The Bower Award and Prize for Achievement in Science carries with it a cash prize of $250,000, one of the richest science prizes in America.
The evening includes a cocktail reception, the Awards Ceremony, and dinner followed by a champagne and dessert buffet. The proceeds directly support The Franklin’s mission of making science and technology accessible and fun, as well as subsidizing discounted and free admission for more than 350,000 schoolchildren each year.
